Odd bods or the quest for the perfect body

rag dolls by karen vallerius

Not voodoo or anything untoward, just that today I am working on my larger cloth doll sewing patterns ... this is a very low tech process which involves me photocopying then adjusting my paper patterns, slightly longer legs maybe (in my dreams!), or different shaped head.  I want to create a boudoir doll with bendable legs so she can sit on a shelf.  I think I am getting there with body that I want her to have - legs, arms, torso and head pieces currently drying as I used a dissolvable pen on white linen to mark my latest pattern version.  Will update progress soon x.

Ugly Duckling Blouse Makeover

Remember those two unloved 80s blouses from the sale rail in my previous post?  Well, they both had a rather dramatic makeover.  The jade blouse was slashed under the bustline, sleeves removed and a scarf stitched to the bottom to make a tie front for summer wear.  While the mauve blouse had some ruching stitched round the waistline; sleeves shortened with more ruching and lace trim; and a collar cut from a lace doiley - I was aiming for a more fitted 1940s look.
This was a great experiment as these blouses had absolutely nothing to lose ... in spite of that, pleased with the outcome.  More unloved clothing makeovers coming soon
